AUX Audio input Help
(For Lexus RX300 from 1997-2003)
1. How to install an auxiliary input so you can play your IPOD/MP3 player or XFM.
This installation will allow you to control the audio using the Lexus factory radio. So yes, you can adjust the volume, left/right, front/back, bass/mid/treble, and keep all the features it already had.

I dont see the steps. Am I missing something? I have a 2002 RX300 model and want to hook up my iPod. Thanks
Go to the Blog archive on the lower left.
I am having troubles following your blogs. Is there any way that you can number your steps so that I can follow in a logical order. Right now I don't have the faintest idea where to start. Or is there any way of combining all the steps into one blog. Thanks
Does this work on the RX300 that does not have navigation?
Excellent! Where did you find the cool red rocker switch panel with built-in jacks?
This did not work on my 1999 Lexus RX300 with CD changer in the glove box but no navigation (I don't think Nav was available on the 99 model). The difference started when my connector was orange instead of blue as pictured in this article. Then pins 2, 3, 11, and 12 in the harness were unused with no wires coming out on either end. That was scary, I experimented cutting and reconnecting some of the other wires, turning the car back on and testing the CD player with no luck. None of the 4 other wires I cut affected the CD player. I then traced the wires coming out of the CD player. It appeared there was a single power wire on the driver's side and then an adapter towards the middle with five wires coming out of it. Those five wires run in the direction of the harness described in this article but they are in the sling on the side of the harness and they do not twist back towards the harness. I would like to locate the amplifier and maybe tap directly into the left-right audio in on the amp with a switch if that is possible. Why did Lexus need to make this so complicated?
Does the CD player has to work? I was hoping just to bypass the cd changer. Mine is broke and I don't want to spend money if I can avoid it.
When you switched the signal wires (left and right) using the DPDT switch, what did you do with the ground wires? Splice into the ground wires and hard-wire the AUX jack ground? across both grounds?
Hi, I notice that Jenna wasn't able to do this procedure on a '99 RX300. There hasn't been any replies, so I would like to know if anyone has successfully done it on the '99 model before I even give it a try since I don't really know what I'm doing. Thanks.
I also have a 99 rx300 and before I go ripping the dashboard out would like to know if anyone has done this successfully with a 1999 model. I don't have navigation either.
